How do you design a process that's as selective as the network itself?

How do you design a process that's as selective as the network itself?

The answer

(if you don't read anything else, read this)

Joining an exclusive network involves a process. And that process has steps, waiting times, and decisions that aren't always in your hands. The applicant needs to know where they are at every point, what it means, what comes nexts, and what they can do while the wait.

The work has two sides.

One was the flow itself: mapping every step a lawyer goes through from invitation to decision, and designing the dashboard states so that at every point they knew exactly here they stood and what they could to strengthen their case.

The other was the communication layer: 25 transactional emails that had to carry the same tone at every stage, whether you were being welcomed, followed up, or turned down.

An "exclusive" process doesn't have to feel opaque to transmit exclusivity. Rigour and consideration do that work. And they need to show from the first touchpoint.

Context

A legal tech startup connects large companies with lawyers through its platform. Those who want to join the price network go through a certification and selection process, and that process needed a product experience built around it.

What I did

UX/UI
  • Full web application flow. Wireframes and mockups for the applicant dashboard.

Product content
  • Wrote all dashboard content in Spanish and English.

  • Designed and wrote a transactional email sequence of 25 emails covering invitation, follow-ups, acceptance, rejection and every other step in the process.

Deliverables

  • Bilingual product content.

  • Bilingual transactional emails sequence.
